The highly anticipated fixture will pit the Owlesses, who currently sit seventh in the NERWFL Southern, against rivals United, who find themselves further down the division in tenth.

Sheffield Wednesday Ladies have had a positive season so far; despite a recent falloff in form, they still find themselves 16 points clear of the drop zone, with a record of four wins, nine losses, and one draw.

As for Sheffield United, they find themselves in a far more difficult position. They stand on a tally of just 3 points, leaving them as serious contenders for relegation. So far this season they have a record of just one win and no draws across nine NERWFL fixtures.

Last time out, Wednesday Ladies suffered a close 3-2 loss on the road against Handsworth, with goals coming from Nicole Shaw and Amy Broomhead.

Meanwhile the Blades suffered a 7-0 loss at home to York City Development, the side that the Owlesses managed to beat twice prior to the winter break.

During the reverse fixture, Andy Gilligan and Gary Wilson's side managed to produce one of the results of the season, winning 7-2 in the Steel City Derby.

It’s likely that Gilligan and Wilson will turn to the so-far-impressive front three of Harriet Lloyd, Broomhead, and Shaw for goals. With the trio so far sitting on a combined tally of 26 league goals this season.

As for United, they will look to attacker Georgie Owen, who has a tally of 2 goals in 6 appearances for the Blades.

We are also delighted that this weekend’s clash with Sheffield United Community Foundation will be our Football V Homophobia dedicated matchday, in association with Rainbow Owls.

The Steel City Derby will take place this Sunday at the Jubilee Sports and Social Club with kick-off scheduled for 3pm. We would love to see as many of you there as possible!
