Sheffield Wednesday Ladies First Team coach Gary Wilson looks ahead to the upcoming game against Sheffield United Community Foundation this Sunday.

Andy Gilligan and Gary Wilson's side will be hoping to bounce back from their NERWFL defeat against Handsworth last weekend as they face off against Sheffield United Community Foundation.

The 6-0 loss was a sobering moment for the side, and we caught up with First Team coach Wilson after the defeat: "Firstly, I thought in the first half we were fantastic. We managed to keep Handsworth at bay, broke down their attacks and we counter attacked very well.

"The second half was a different story, but a learning curve nonetheless for the team. I’ve mention before that me and Andy are building an attacking style for the team to implement, and there will be mistakes along the way as we iron out the creases.

"We have a team of very talented footballers and if we play like we did in the first half, we should not have any problems."

The game against Sheffield United Community Foundation will take place at Swallownest Miners Welfare Recreation Ground as Sheffield Wednesday Ladies look to notch a second consecutive away victory.

It is without a doubt a crucial game for the Owlesses, and Wilson is certainly aware of the bragging rights that such a fixture holds.

Speaking to the club, he said: "The team know that this is a must win game for many reasons [against Sheffield United Community Foundation].

"For me, as a coach and a Yorkshire man, there is no bigger rivalry than United, and Wednesday and who gets the bragging rights, and this is something that will certainly drive the team this Sunday."

The game will take place this Sunday at Swallownest Miners Welfare Recreation Ground. Entry is £2 for adults and FREE for children, with the game kicking off at 2pm; we hope to see as many of you there as possible showing your support!
