Danny Shackleton looks ahead to Wednesday Ladies reserve clash

Lewis Railton15 Feb - 14:49

We caught up with Sheffield Wednesday Ladies Reserves head coach Danny Shackleton to preview their SHCFA Cup fixture.

Our reserves will face the stern test of Barnsley Women FC this Sunday, with the game taking place at the SWFFCP Jubilee Sports Club for a 3pm kick-off.

The National League side travel to S6 having picked up seven points in their previous four games, going into the clash in top form.

Ahead of the game, we chatted to Sheffield Wednesday Ladies Reserves head coach Danny Shackleton about the upcoming test, to which he said: “It’s a great situation to be in and will provide valuable education to the players in terms of their footballing development. For the players to go out and share the pitch with a team from national league level, they should be proud.

“It’s going to be a very tough occasion in terms of our opposition no doubt, but we have to take every positive from the game that we can. It’s a fantastic opportunity to go and play without fear or pressure.

“That being said, if the players can go and apply themselves and work for each other, who knows. We may get one of those cup surprises nobody expects.

“We look forward to welcoming such a high level team to the Jubilee and hopefully, we can give a good account of ourselves and make it a competitive fixture.”
